Emirates recently unveiled a special livery design for its A380 and B777-300ER aircraft, to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE.
The livery features the wording ‘United Arab Emirates 50’ in Arabic and English on either side of the fuselage, using the “Emirates” of the carrier’s usual livery to complete the phrase.
In a press release Emirates said that “The silhouette of the ‘50’ in the livery reveals dynamic yet graceful lines, illustrating the layers of the country’s storied history”, while “The continuous swirls and curves demonstrate the vibrant characteristics and accomplishments of the UAE in the last 50 years, which has been continually pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, guided by a visionary leadership”.
An official “Year of the Fiftieth” logo is also encircled in the livery’s “0”. The United Arab Emirates was established on December 2, 1971, with six emirates joining, followed by Ras Al Khaimah in February 1972.
